A couple of weeks ago I finished a little stripy tea dress for mini, in this lovely pink and blue super-soft cotton. It took me a little while to persuade her to wear it (plus, the weather has been awful), but I finally wedged her into it, on the condition that she could keep her trousers on, and we’d go feed the ducks.
You can see a loose thread here, plus the bias tape I used on the hem. But on the positive, I think it’s a pretty good fit, and I’m so pleased with the way the pleats fall.
The shape of the bodice is really interesting, because it really does look like capped sleeves, with just a little bit of extra shaping. It also has a sort of slash-neck, which sits really nicely on her.
Mostly she’s running in these photos, because she really loves burning off her extra energy after nursery. She has so much energy, I wish she’d give some to me!
It even matches on the shoulders! (only on one side, but hey, feeling pretty smug about it).
I probably need to re-sew that button because it’s turning round a bit, but I absolutely hate sewing shank buttons, there’s just something wrong with my brain that means I find it incredibly hard to poke the needle back up in the right place – this is also why I hate embroidery, or any hand sewing!!
She did take her trousers off in the end, so you can see it’s a pretty nice fit, I don’t know how long it’ll last, but hey, it’s getting colder so I’m going to move on to sleeve things soon!
Bloody Minion eggs! Oh thanks Kinder, just combine two of her favourite things, it’s not like we didn’t already have enough plastic flotsam in this house!
Anyway, there you have it. Really love this pattern, give it a go!
